16-18 Old Bond Street
Styles Façade Solutions® (formerly Thomann-Hanry®) was appointed to conduct a detailed commercial facade condition survey for PRADA’s flagship store, identifying structural concerns ahead of the brand’s annual maintenance schedule while keeping the store fully operational throughout.
With scaffolding unviable at this prominent location, our fleet of MEWPs enabled a fast, scaffold-free condition survey. Technicians inspected, photographed, and recorded the entire façade at close range, immediately making safe any loose elements for instant peace of mind.
The full commercial façade survey was set up, completed, and cleared before peak trading hours. A detailed, colour-coded technical report followed within two weeks, allowing PRADA to prioritise repairs with precision.

MILAN STYLE MEETS LONDON INGENUITY
Bond Street gains its name from Sir Thomas Bond, head of the syndicate of developers who began construction across the area in 1686. The historic thoroughfare is split in two: Old Bond Street, constructed during the primary phase of development, and New Bond Street, completed 14 years later. During the 19th century, the street cemented its reputation as the premier destination for luxury shopping – a status it proudly continues to this day.
The original PRADA boutique opened in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Milan, in 1913, selling a range of luxury leather goods. The exceptional quality of these items was so significant that by 1919 it had earned the prestigious title of “Official Supplier of the Italian Royal Household”. It was subsequently transformed into an international luxury fashion powerhouse during the 1970s by the founder’s granddaughter, Miuccia Prada.
Ten years after opening its first standalone London flagship, PRADA opened a prominent multi-level store in 2004 at the heart of the UK’s luxury shopping district, 16-18 Old Bond Street. The property has undergone several aesthetic renovations over the years, with the last major architectural renovations occurring in 2012. The Portland stone and metal-panelled façade requires meticulous maintenance to continuously project an elegant, pristine and classic aura.
Styles Façade Solutions® conducts a close-up inspection of the upper façade at 16-18 Old Bond Street, London, using a mobile elevating work platform (MEWP). The surveyor examines the stonework and window detailing at height, ensuring a thorough assessment of the building's condition.
PRESERVING REVENUE AND RETAIL AESTHETICS
Styles Façade Solutions® was selected to undertake a detailed commercial facade condition survey, providing the facility management team at PRADA with a clear overview of structural concerns to be addressed during their planned annual maintenance schedule. Ensuring the flagship remained fully operational and inviting throughout the process was a business-critical requirement.
Given such a prominent location for an iconic luxury fashion house, traditional scaffolding was completely unviable. Enclosing the structure would have been time-consuming, unsightly and expensive. The store’s leadership team raised serious concerns that scaffolding the building would cause a significant downturn in footfall and brand visibility.
DIAGNOSTIC PRECISION WITH ZERO DISRUPTION
By using our specialised fleet of MEWPs (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms), our team was able to quicky conduct the survey. Getting up close to the building’s exterior allowed our specialists to meticulously inspect, photograph, and record all areas of the façade. This close-range access also allowed our experts to immediately remove or make safe any loose structural elements, providing instant peace of mind.
The survey team from Styles Façade Solutions® was able to set-up, conduct the entire physical inspection, and clear the site, all before the boutique’s peak trading hours in the afternoon, eliminating the need for scaffolding. Following completion of the on-site façade survey, our surveyor compiled a detailed, illustrated and colour-coded written technical report in under two weeks. This report highlighted key areas of concern which would allow the PRADA team to plan and prioritise the repairs with absolute precision.
“The PRADA store façade survey perfectly demonstrates the operational benefits that Styles Façade Solutions® delivers to luxury retail clients. Our specialist teams can arrive on site, conduct the inspection, pack-up, and be off-site all without inconveniencing the store and its clients and most importantly, without the need for intrusive scaffolding.”
