Styles Façade Solutions® (formerly Thomann-Hanry®) delivered a comprehensive hotel facade survey, including commercial building façade surveys and building condition façade surveys, for The Rosewood London Hotel, providing the engineering team with a detailed façade report to support ongoing maintenance and repair planning.
Using a combination of MEWPs and drones, the commercial building survey and façade condition survey were completed in just two days without scaffolding, minimising disruption to guests. Every elevation, including the inner courtyard, was inspected, enabling safe identification of defects and prioritisation of remedial works.

ENSURING THE ROSEWOOD LONDON IS SAFE AND SOUND!
The former home to The Pearl Assurance Company, now the Rosewood London, a luxury five-star hotel. This grand structure was built over a period of almost 48 years, with the main building designed by C. Newman in the Edwardian Baroque style and opened in 1914. The final of its three additional wings was added in the 1960s.
It remained the head office of The Pearl Assurance Company until 1989 and, in 2000, opened as a hotel. After extensive renovations in 2013, it reopened as the 262-room Rosewood London.
The Grade II Listed landmark, featuring a striking and intricate Portland stone façade, sits alongside High Holburn, one of the busiest roads in central London. The combination of high urban traffic and the notorious London weather makes regular façade surveys a vital part of the hotel’s maintenance schedule.

HOTEL FAÇADE SURVEY
Styles Façade Solutions® was selected to undertake a detailed hotel facade survey to ensure the engineering team at the hotel had a detailed report of the areas of concern, which could then be rectified as part of the ongoing maintenance schedule.
Traditional scaffolding was ruled out for this project as it would have been time-consuming, unsightly, and expensive. There were also significant concerns raised regarding guest privacy and the need to either discount room rates or offer discounts or refunds if scaffolding was used. By using a strategic mixture of MEWP (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms) and drones, the team conducted a thorough inspection without compromising the guest experience.

HIGH LEVEL FAÇADE CONDITION SURVEY
Unlike drone-only services, our hands-on approach allows our specialists to physically inspect, tap-test and when needed, remove any loose or damaged items. This significantly reduces the risk of accidents to staff, customers and members of the public from any falling façade items such as masonry, fixtures, and fittings.
The inner courtyard was also surveyed using MEWPs, ensuring that every surface of the building’s façade was inspected to gather a complete data set. The comprehensive survey was completed in just two days. Within weeks, the Rosewood engineering team was presented with a detailed façade report highlighting the key areas of concern and the priority list of repairs and remediations for their next scheduled maintenance programme.
